Best 10 Video Editing Software

Best 10 Movie Editing Software-:

1. Apple Final Cut Pro X

 Video Editing Software

As with any modern Mac app, Final Cut Pro X is obtainable only through the Apple App Store. You can install it on multiple Macs for $299, and you receive updates automatically. It's a hefty 2.3GB download, so make sure you've got enough local storage. When updating to the latest version, I also had to update my project library. This meant its contents wouldn't be editable in previous versions.
The program requires at least a Core 2 Duo-based machine running OS X 10.10.4 or later, an OpenCL-capable video processor, 3.5GB free disk space, and 4GB RAM (8GB recommended). I tested Final Cut on a 21.5-inch iMac with a 3.1GHz Core i7 CPU and 16GB RAM, and performance was responsive whether I was importing, scrubbing, previewing compound picture-in-picture montages, or adding effects. Only working with 3D animated titles slowed down preview and caused dropped frames in playback.

2. Apple iMovie (for Mac OS X)
If for some reason it's not free for you, you can get it in App Store for $14.99. The latest version requires OS X 10.11.2 or later and weighs in at over 2GB. In testing for this review, I installed it on a 21.5-inch iMac with a 3.1GHz Core i7 CPU and 16GB RAM. To get started, simply page through the splash-screens touting its great new features.

3.  Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9
VideoStudio runs on Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7, and the versions for 64-bit OSes are highly recommended. The product is available at two levels: Pro ($79.99, $59.99 upgrade) and Ultimate ($99.99, $79.99 upgrade), which is what I review here. The higher-end option adds effects from ProDAD, NewBlue, and Boris, lets you use six multicam tracks (as opposed to four for Pro), and can import XAVC (Sony 4K) content. By comparison, PowerDVD doesn't limit the number of multicam tracks even in its lower-cost version, but only lets you edit four at a time. The more consumer-oriented Adobe Premiere Elements 14 costs $99.99, but doesn't include any multicam or motion-tracking support. CyberLink PowerDirector Ultimate 14 also lists at $99.99.

4. CyberLink PowerDirector 14 Ultimate

You can try out the software with a 30-day downloadable trial version that adds brand watermarks. Editions range from the limited $69.99 Deluxe to the Director Suite 3 bundle ($249.99) which bundles audio, color, and photo software as well as NewBlue Video Essential 7 effects. You can now also buy this as a subscription for $49.99 for three months or $99.99 per year. I tested the $129.99 Ultimate edition.

Installing the program takes up nearly a gigabyte of your hard drive, so be sure to use a machine with room to spare. And have some time, too: It took about 12 minutes to install the program on my 3.4GHz quad-core PC with 8GB RAM and an Nvidia Quadra 2000 graphics adapter, running Windows 10. The installer no longer tries to add extra unrelated apps alongside the video editor, which makes me happy.

5. Pinnacle Studio 19.5 Ultimate
Like most video editing software lines, Pinnacle Studio is available in good, better, and best levels, with the entry level Pinnacle Studio 19.5 listing for $59.95, Plus for $99.95, and Ultimate (reviewed here) for $129.95. If you need to edit 4K content, such as that shot in Sony XAVC format, you'll need to spring for Ultimate, which also adds high-end effects from NewBlue and music and speech cleaner tools from iZotope. There's no free trial download version.

When you purchase the software online, the download page includes license keys for both Pinnacle Studio 19.5 and iZotope. You only download a stub program that handles full download and installation. This app also gives you choices of 64-bit or 32-bit code and whether you want to download bonus content.

6. Adobe Premiere Elements 14
Premiere Elements 14 is available for Windows 7 SP1 and later and Mac OS X 10.9 and later. You can get it together with Photoshop Elements for $149.99 or as a standalone app for $99.99. These are one-time fees and are separate from Creative Cloud, of which Premiere Elements is not a part. If you're upgrading from a previous version, those prices drop to $119.99 and $79.99, respectively. A free trial gets you 30 days of full-featured program use, but your videos will be stamped with a watermark.

7. Magix Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium

The software is available at three levels: the standard Movie Edit Pro 2016 ($59.99) along with Plus ($99.99) and Premium ($129.99, the version reviewed here). The standard edition is surprisingly capable, with 64-bit operation, support for 4K content, and lots of effects. The Plus edition increases the track limit to 99 from 32 and adds multicam editing, faster 4K editing, more effects, and more audio tools. Premium adds professional plugin effects from Red Giant, an industry-standard video software maker. For the real pros, Magix offers Video Pro X6 ($399). Free 30-day trial versions are available for all versions.

After you download a small stub installation app, it in turn downloads the 433MB program, so have a speedy connection or plan to wait. The installer unfortunately does try to install a system cleaner utility—boo! That's not what I expect to see after paying nearly $100. Installation requires a restart, something I don't see so much any more. You have to register the software with your contact information before you can start using it. You'll also have to do more online activations before using certain features, such as working with MPEG files.

There's another step in setting up the app if you want to edit some 4K video formats: You'll need to separately buy a codec activation code priced at €4.99 (or about $5.63 at the time of this writing). It's an annoyance I didn't encounter in other software, and it's not like Movie Edit Pro is cheaper than the other products, such as PowerDirector.

8. Nero Video 2016
Though it lists for $49.99 on Nero's site, the price is discounted to $29.99 as of this writing, for a perpetual software license. You can also download a free trial version for the price of an email address—with no credit card information required. The software requires Windows 10, 8, or 7 (32-bit and 64-bit are both supported). First you download a small stub program that downloads and installs the actual program, which takes up a surprising 1.7GB on your disk.
